The Misericordia University baseball team had a productive day at the plate on their way to a 10-7 victory over Keystone, Tuesday afternoon at Tambur Field.
Rain delayed the start of the by 30 minutes, but that didn't deter the Cougars.
Mike Comerford was 3-4 with two doubles, two RBI and three runs scored while
Chris Boroch was 2-2 with a double, two walks and two runs scored.
Miles Westrich was 2-5 with three RBI while
Kenny Jarema was 1-4 with a double, a walk, two RBI and two runs scored.
The Giants got on the board first, scoring on a MU error but the Cougars capitalized on a Keystone error to make it 1-1 after one. Misericordia capitalized on a Giants error again in the second.
D.J. Navoczynski singled to lead off the inning. Comerford put down a sac bunt that the pitcher threw into the outfield which allowed Navoczynski to go first to third. Navoczynski scored on a wild pitch and Comerford advanced all the way to third. Westrich singled home Comerford to make it 3-1 Misericordia after two.
Keystone scored runs in the four and fifth innings to tie things at three, but the Cougars went on to score the next seven runs to make it 10-3 through six.
In the fifth, Jarema led off with a walk. Â An
Alec Iurato sac bunt and Navoczynski ground out to third got Jarema to third. Comerford mashed a double to right to score Jarema and a
Jeremy DeCotiis single to right scored Jarema to make it 5-3 after five.
The Cougars scored five runs in the sixth on three hits whil two batters were by a pitch and two others drew walks.
Keystone put up one run in the seventh and crossed the plate three times in the ninth to make things interesting, but
Jim Tunison came in and struck out the final batter to pick up the save.
The win moves MU to 26-10 heading into tomorrow's game against Scranton. First pitch is at 4:15.
