The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team ended the regular season with a hard-fought 7-5 loss at FDU-Florham in a battle for first place in the MAC Freedom.

The Cougars dropped to 9-7 overall and 5-1 in the MAC Freedom.

Olivia Garcia led the Cougars with two goals while Cara Spector had a goal and an assist.

Ashley Hobbs and Allie Elmes added goals for MU while Katie McLoughlin made 10 saves in goal.

Rachael Taylor had a team-high five ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Down 3-0 early in the first half, MU got on the board on Garcia's free position shot with 21:52 left in the first half.

FDU-Florham made it 4-1 four minutes later and Hobbs and Garcia scored 20 seconds part with less than two minutes to play in the first half.

FDU-Florham went up 5-3 just over 10 minutes into the second half and Elmes answered with a free position goal with 15:35 to play.

Spector pulled MU even with a free position goal with 8:15 remaining but the Devils responded with two goals to take a 7-5 lead with 2:49 left.

The Cougars will host a MAC Freedom semifinal, Wednesday.
