The Misericordia baseball team lost to Widener, 7-2, on a chilly Wednesday afternoon at Tambur Field.
Mike Comerford went 2-4 with a two-run homer,
Kenny Jarema went 1-2 with two walks and
Al Reda went 1-2 with a double and a walk.
Chris Boroch went 1-4 with a double.
Michael Turton was credited with the loss. He went 5.0 innings and allowed six runs (four earned) on five hits.
Widener got on the board quickly, scoring in the first inning. The Pride struck again in third, scoring on a wild pitch and then a single to left field a few batters later.
In the bottom of the third,
Miles Westrich singled up the middle and then Reda doubled to left to put runners at second and third. Two batters later Jarema walked to load the bases with one out. Widener got MU to ground into a double play to end the inning.
MU got on the board in the bottom of the fourth.
D.J. Navoczynski reached on an error and then
Mike Comerford drove him home with a two-run home run to left center.
Widener scored twice in the fifth and then added another run in the sixth.
The Cougars first two batters reached safely in the bottom of the eighth. Boroch led off with a double to left and then Jarema walked to put runners at first and second with no outs, but the next three batters were retired.
The loss drops MU to 14-7.
They travel to play FDU-Florham, Â Friday at 3:30.Â
