The Misericordia baseball team used an offensive barrage to blitz FDU-Florham, 18-3, Friday afternoon in Madison, New Jersey.
Parker Abate went 3-4 with two doubles, four RBI and three runs scored while
Jeremy DeCotiis went 2-3 with three RBI and two runs scored.
Kyle Lindsay went 3-5 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored.
Al Reda went 2-3 with two RBI and a run scored,
D.J. Navoczynski went 3-4 with a double and four runs scored.
Alec Iurato went 1-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Ryan Dorosh got the win for the Cougars.
The Devils got the board first; scoring in the bottom of the first inning, but Misericordia tied things up in the top of the next inning.
Navoczynski led off with a single and stole second. The next two batters flew out and grounded out before DeCotiis smacked a ball up the middle to score Navoczynski from second.
The Cougars scored six more in the next inning.
Chris Boroch led off with a walk, Lindsay doubled to left before
Kenny Jarema flied out to left which scored Boroch. Iurato was hit by a 1-0 pitch and Navoczynski walked to load the bases.Â
Mike Comerford reached on an error before Abate ripped a double to right to score Navoczynski and Iurato.
DeCotiis grounded out to second which plated Comerford. Reda followed that up with a single to center which sent Abate home. The Devils scored one run in the bottom of the inning to leave the score at 7-2 in favor of Misericordia through three innings.
The Cougars put up another five runs in fourth abd FDU-Florham scored one more run in the bottom of fourth before Misericordia scored the final six runs in the top of the fifth to make it 18-3.
The win moves MU to 15-7, 6-2 in the MAC Freedom.
The Cougars are scheduled to host FDU-Florham tomorrow in a doubleheader; first pitch is at 12:00.Â
