The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team dropped its season opener in a hard-fought 14-11 decision to Albright, Wednesday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
Olivia Garcia led the Cougars with four goals and an assist and
Kate Raab added three goals.
Lexee Wiley scored twice and
Emily Connell had a goal and two assists while
Liz Mulvey added a goal.
Kaila Quinlivan had two assists.
Katie McLoughlin made 12 saves in goal for MU.
Brianna Ladner had six draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers while Quinlivan added five draw controls.
Mulvey and Garcia scored less than a minute apart to give MU an early 2-0 lead and Emil Connell's first collegiate goal made it 3-1 seven minutes into the game.
After Albright scored four straight goals, Garcia scored twice in less than a minute and Raab added an unassisted goal to give the Cougars a 6-5 lead.
The Lions scored twice to regain the lead, but Raab and Wiley answered to put MU back in front, 8-7 with 3:24 to play in the first half.
Albright closed the half with four straight goals to take an 11-8 halftime lead.
