Box Score 2 The Misericordia University softball team split a pair of games on day two of their Florida trip in Lake County, Monday morning.
The Cougars won via a walk-off single against Mount Union, 5-4, before they lost to Roanoke 8-0 in six innings.
Brooke Moyle allowed seven hits and had two strikeouts to earn the win.
Alexis D'Amico singled down the left field line in the bottom of the seventh to score
Victoria Schmidt and give MU their first win of the season.
In the first inning,
Lori Brennan hit a sac fly to center field which allowed
Melanie Quintanilla to cross the plate.
Dani Clifford scored in the second on an error by the short stop.
In the top of the third Schmidt pushed the MU lead to 3-0 when she walloped a ball over the outfield fence for her first career home run.
Mount Union pulled two back in the top of the fourth to make it 3-2.
Brennan drove in Schmidt with a single through the right side. Mount Union struck twice more in the sixth to tie things at 4-4 before D'Amico won the game.
Brennan was 1-3 with two RBI while Schmidt was 1-2 with three runs scored, an RBI and two walks. D'Amico was 1-1 with a RBI and a walk.
The second game saw Roanoke score two runs in the first, fourth and fifth innings before they won on a two-run single in the sixth.
Mackenzie Yurko and Schmidt each had one hit for the Cougars.
Misericordia will play Lebanon Valley, Tuesday at 1:00..
