Box Score The Misericordia University baseball team dropped a 9-5 decision to LaRoche, Thursday in Fort Pierce, FL.
Alec Iurato had two hits and scored two runs to lead the Cougars while
Jonathan Juri scored two runs.
Misericordia scored twice in the bottom of the ninth inning and brought the tying run to the plate, but left the bases loaded.
Elliot Forde struck out four over 5.2 innings while absorbing the loss.
Trailing 2-0, Iurato led off the bottom of the second with a single and eventually scored on an error to cut the deficit in half.
Iurato lined a single just past the second baseman to start the bottom of the fourth inning and moved to third on a hit-and-run single by
Tyler Holzapfel.Â
Alec St. Pier's sacrifice fly to left brought Iurato home to tie the score.
After LaRoche scored five times in the sixth, the Cougars got a run back in the bottom of the seventh.Â
Juri reached with one out via hit by pitch and
Matt Gambino was hit by a pitch with two outs before scored on an infield error.
Billy Kerwein singled to lead off the ninth and
Logan LaRochelle walked and both runners moved up on an error. After
Scott Carton drove in a run on a fielder's choice, Gambino walked and
Conor Smith was hit by a pitch to load the bases.Â
Brian Kay reached via hit by pitch to make it 9-5, but the rally and game ended on a fielder's choice.
Misericordia, 4-4, will play Widener Friday.
