Box Score 2 The Misericordia University softball team dropped a doubleheader to Scranton, 5-4, 8-0, Monday evening in Jessup.
Scranton rallied for three runs in the bottom of the fifth to come from behind in the opener before taking the nightcap in six innings.
Jess Pluta had two triples for the Cougars while
Abby Marzzacco and
Taylor Kenerson both had two hits.
Melanie Quintanilla added a two-run double.
Quintanilla and Pluta both had two hits in the nightcap.
The Cougars took a 3-0 lead in the second inning in the opener.
Pluta led off with a triple down the right field line and scored on
Caitlin Kennedy's single to center. Two outs later, Kenerson singled to center and Quintanilla drove in two runs with a double to right center for a 3-0 lead.
Scranton got two runs back in the third and the Cougars added a run in the fourth.
Mackenzie Yurko drew a one-out walk and moved to second on Kenerson's single to left center. Quintanilla reached on an error to load the bases and
Alexis D'Amico made it 4-2 with a fielder's choice.
Scranton scored three times in the fifth to go in front.
In game two, Scranton took a 1-0 lead in the second and added three runs in the third. The Royals closed out the game with four runs in the sixth.
Misericordia will host Keystone, Wednesday.
