MU Men Finish Perfect MAC Freedom Regular Season

The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team finished off a perfect regular season in the MAC Freedom with a 16-2 win over DeSales, Saturday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.

Phil Fraher and Kyle Reese both scored three goals as the Cougars won their seventh straight to improve to 10-3 overall and 7-0 in the MAC Freedom.

Sean McSwiggan two goals and an assist and James Pedersen scored twice.

Matt Beck made eight saves to earn the win in goal.

Ryan Romaine was 12-16 on face-offs and Paul Hanrahan had three caused turnovers and six ground balls.

Reese added four ground balls for MU.

Fraher bounced a shot in from the left wing to give MU the lead less than four minutes into the game.  Kocovsky came from behind the net and bounced a shot inside the left post for a 2-0 lead with 9:21 to go in the first period.

DeSales cut the MU lead in half two minutes later, but DeMichele juked a defender and drove from the top of the circle to score and give the Cougars a 3-1 lead late in the opening stanza.

Pat Kellish found Reese at the top of the circle and he placed a shot inside the right post for a man-up goal early in the second quarter.

MU scored three goals in three minutes to go ahead 7-1 midway through the second quarter.

Kocovsky found Pat Kellish cutting in front of the net for a man-up goal and John Tierney and Fraher added goals in the final minute of the first half for a 10-1 lead.

McSwiggan scored off a rebound in front of the cage in the opening minute of the second half.

Reese scored twice in just over a minute to give the Cougars a 13-1 lead late in the third quarter.

McSwiggan added a goal midway through the fourth quarter and Pedersen scored twice in six seconds as the Cougars went ahead 16-1.

The Cougars will host FDU-Florham in the MAC Freedom semifinals, Wednesday at 7:00.
