The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team opened its MAC Freedom schedule with an 18-8 win at Eastern, Wednesday afternoon.
Kaila Quinlivan had three goals, two assists and a team-high five draw controls as the Cougars won their fifth straight game to improve to 6-2.
Sarah Bender added three goals and an assist and
Liz Mulvey scored three times. Mulvey's first goal was the 100th of her career.Â
Amy Roth had two goals and two assists and
Kate Raab and
Lexee Willey had two goals each.Â
Olivia Garcia added a goal and three assists and
Ashley Hobbs and
Emily Connell both had a goal and an assist.
Katie McLoughlin made eight saves in goal and
Taylor Simeone and
Nicole Winter had three caused turnovers and three ground balls, respectively.
Quinlivan scored in the opening minute and Mulvey scored twice over the next six minutes to give the Cougars an early 3-0 lead.Â
Eastern rallied to pull even, 4-4, with 13:37 left in the first half, but MU answered with five of the next six goals to end the half.
Raab sandwiched a pair of tallies around goals by Bender and Roth to put MU up 8-4 with 4:46 left in the half.
Eastern got one back before Willey scored off a feed from Garcia with 1:31 to go.
Mulvey and Garcia scored unassisted early in the second half as the Cougars took an 11-5 lead.
After an Eastern goal, MU strung together four straight goals with Roth, Bender, Quinlivan and Connell finding the back of the net.
Eastern got two quick goals with 8:12 to go, but the Cougars closed the game with three goals over the final 6:12.
Misericordia will visit Manhattanville, Saturday.
