MU Men Score 10 Straight to Rally for Win

The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team scored 10 unanswered goals as they rallied for a 13-6 win over Manhattanville, Saturday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.

Pat Kellish had five goals and an assist and Matt Beck made three saves in 33 scoreless minutes to earn the win in goal.

Chris Fleming and Sean McSwiggan both had two goals and two assists and Brandon Winslow added two goals and an assist.

Ryan Romaine was 15-19 on face-offs and Paul Hanrahan had a team-high six ground balls.

Steve Dallicardillo had four ground balls and three caused turnovers and Kellish, Fleming and Romaine all added four ground balls.

Manhattanville got on the board first midway through the first quarter.  Kellish had MU's best chance of the first quarter but his shot from the left flank caromed off the post.

The Valiants added a goal with 3:25 to play in the stanza and took a 3-0 lead early in the second quarter.

Kellish had another dangerous opportunity from in front of the cage less than three minutes into the second period, but his low shot was saved.

Winslow worked his way across the top of the circle and whipped a shot from the left side to notch MU's first goal with 10:20 left in the second period.

The Valiants scored twice in less than a minute to take a 5-1 lead with 6:58 to play in the quarter.

From behind the cage, Kellish hit Kyle Reese in stride down the left side and his bounce shot made it 5-2 with 6:01 remaining.

Kellish took a pass from McSwiggan, juked a defender and placed a shot in the upper right corner to get within 5-3.

A Manhattanville goal gave the visitors a 6-3 lead a prompted a goalie change with 3:05 left in the first half.

Fraher whipped a low shot from the right wing for a goal with 1:21 to go and Kellish stuffed a shot under the crossbar 30 seconds later to pull within 6-5.

Fleming posted up near the left post and fired a shot under the bar for a man-up goal to the score, 6-6, in the opening minute of the second half.

Michael Iglio hit Fleming in the same spot and he put another shot under the crossbar to give MU its first lead, 7-6, less than five minutes into the third quarter.

Kellish scored two straight goals and Winslow fired a shot inside the right post for a man-up goal and a 10-6 lead with 1:30 to go in the third period.

McSwiggan scored two straight goals and Kellish closed the scoring with 6:13 to play.

Misericordia improved to 5-3 overall and 2-0 in the MAC Freedom and will visit Wilkes Wednesday evening.
