Box Score The Misericordia University men's soccer team dropped its season opener to St. John Fisher, 2-0, Thursday afternoon in Rochester.

St. John Fisher broke a scoreless tie in the 72^nd minute and added an insurance goal in the 83^rd minute.

Patrick Hoffman made a leaping save on a Fisher header to preserve the tie in the closing minutes of the first half.

Nick Szczerba nearly gave MU the lead early in the second half, but header was just wide of the right post.

Hoffman made another big save in the 58^th minute to keep the game scoreless.

After St. John Fisher got on the board, Bryson Smith nearly pulled MU even, but his shot from inside the crease was wide left in the 73^rd minute.

Levi Roberts lofted a free kick from near midfield in the 75^th minute, but the Fisher keeper came off his line to win the ball with two MU attackers near the back post.
