The Misericordia University women's volleyball team opened its MAC Freedom schedule with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-14) win over Delaware Valley, Wednesday evening in the Anderson Center.

Michelle Sehested led the Cougars with seven kills while Sarah Pool and Jassmine Watson each had six.

Tara Welliver had five aces and three blocks and Ariana Gagliardi had 17 assists.

MU took advantage of a Pool ace and three Del Val errors to score six straight points and take an 11-5 lead in the opening set.

Welliver had four aces as part of a 7-0 to take an 18-8 lead.

The Cougars scored five straight points to open the second set and used a 7-0 run to take a 17-8 lead.

Shaughnessy had two kills as part of a 7-0 to give MU a 24-13 lead.

The Cougars are 6-2 and will host Marywood and Alvernia in a tri-match, Friday.
