The Misericordia University men's basketball team shot 61.5% from the field in the second half to remain unbeaten in MAC Freedom play with an 82-72 win over Eastern, Wednesday night at the Anderson Center.
Jason Kenny scored a game-high 23 points and
Tony Harding added 16 points on five three-pointers and six assists.Â
Tre Fields had 14 points for MU.
After a back-and-forth first half, Kenny's back door layup gave the Cougars a 36-32 lead at halftime.
The Cougars scored six points in less than a minute to take a 49-38 lead four minutes into the second half.Â
Tyerell Mann slashed down the lane and
Stone McCreary and Kenny both followed with layups to give MU an 11-point lead with 16:01 to play.
Harding drained a three-pointer from the right win and buried another from the top of the for a 55-41 advantage with 14:43 to go.
McCreary followed an Eastern bucket with a three-pointer from in front of the MU bench and Harding nailed another deep trey to put MU up 61-45.
Kenny went coast-to-coast off a steal and
Alec Rodway's driving layup to beat the shot clock gave the Cougars a 72-59 lead with 4:13 to play.
The Eagles pulled within seven points with 1:47 left, but Harding buried a deep step-back three-pointer to beat the shot clock and extend MU's lead to 79-69 with 1:16 left.
The Cougars improved to 8-5 overall and will visit Delaware Valley, Saturday.
