The Eastern University men's basketball team used a big second half to pull off a 73-69 come-from-behind win over Misericordia University, Wednesday night in St. David's.
Tre Fields led the Cougars with 23 points and
Stone McCreary added 17.Â
Jason Kenny had 12 points and seven assists and
Noah Rivera grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds.
Misericordia used a 20-0 run over a six-minute span in the first half to take a 23-7 lead, but Eastern rallied to get within 30-25 at halftime.
Eastern used a 14-3 run to open second half to take a 39-33 lead.
Another 9-0 run by the Eagles stretched their lead to 50-40 with 11:46 to play.
The Cougars answered with a 12-1 run to take a 52-51 lead, but Eastern responded with eight straight points to take the lead for good.
McCreary hit two big three-pointers in the closing minutes to keep MU in the game and Fields drilled a three-pointer to cut the deficit to 71-69 with five seconds left. The Eagles converted two free throws to secure the win.
Misericordia will host Delaware Valley, Saturday at 3:00.
