Japriya Carroll scored 18 points to lead three players in double figures as the Misericordia University women's basketball team beat Eastern, 66-49.
Paige Wampole had 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds and
Quintessa Zamolyi had 11 points and eight rebounds for MU.
Zamolyi and
Kalynn Sefcik made back-to-back three-pointers to end a 10-0 run over the first three minutes of the game.
Two free throws by Zamolyi and a layup from Wampole gave the Cougars a 20-9 lead after the first period.
Carroll scored five straight points and Jackie Hajec hit a three-pointer to put MU up 31-15 late in the second quarter.
Zamolyi's layup ended the first half with Misericordia ahead, 34-19.
Misericordia maintained a double digit lead throughout the third quarter, but Eastern opened the fourth quarter with six straight points.
The Eagles got within 50-45 midway through the fourth quarter, but never go any closer.
Layups by Zamolyi and Carroll and a three-point play by Wampole stretched the lead back to 57-47 with 3:23 to play.
MU will host Delaware Valley, Saturday at 1:00.
