The Misericordia University women's basketball team used a balanced scoring attack on the way to a 72-32 win over Penn College, Monday night at the Anderson Center.
Paige Wampole scored 12 points and
Brenna Karnish added nine points and seven rebounds.Â
Jordan Barth added eight points and a team-high nine rebounds and
Kalynn Sefcik added eight points as 12 different Cougars found the scoring column.
Kristen Schmale added six points and six rebounds.
The Cougars jumped out to an 11-0 lead in the first four minutes and never looked back.
After Wampole opened the scoring with a pair of free throws, Carmody drained a jumper from the left wing and made it 6-0 with a short turnaround jumper in the lane.
Sefcik drilled a three-pointer from the right corner and Carmody ended the run with a short jumper from the left baseline.
Liz Waleski buried a three-pointer from the top of the key and then found Wampole underneath for a 19-4 lead with 1:39 left in the first quarter.
MU opened the second quarter with a 17-0 run to put the game away. After a Wampole free throw, a Carmody steal on the next possession led to a fast break layup by Wampole off a nice bounce pass from
Japriya Carroll to take a 23-8 lead.
Sefcik drained another three-pointer and Carroll went coast-to-coast off a steal to stretch the lead to 28-8.
Waleski's steal and outlet pass led to Jackie Hajec led to a layup by
Quintessa Zamolyi and three straight buckets by
Jordan Barth gave the Cougars a 37-8 lead with 4:17 to go in the second quarter.
The Cougars return to MAC Freedom play when they host Eastern, Wednesday at 8:00.
