The Misericordia University football team didn't need any last-minute heroics to extend its winning streak to seven games with a 41-23 win in a driving rain, Saturday at King's.

Garrett Murray set a school record with 18 tackles and returned an interception 38 yards for a touchdown as the Cougars improved to 7-1 and remained perfect in the MAC at 6-0.

David Cromwell ran for 75 yards and two TD's and
Brady Williams threw for two scores and added another on the ground.

Klayton Kelly and
Isiah Solomon both added touchdown receptions.

Nick Yeager had 15 tackles and
Alex Hafner added 12 stops while
John Pearson and Mike Becke had 11 and 10 tackles, respectively.

Murray and Pearson combined with
Kenny Grady on back-to-back sacks on the opening drive of the game and the Cougars took over at the King's 42-yard line after a fake punt came up short.

Cromwell picked up 14 yards on two carries and I. Williams gave the Cougars another first down at the King's 16-yard line.

nd-and-11, B. Williams gained five yards to the King's 12 and then connected with Kelly for the game's first score with 8:18 to go in the opening quarter.

King's answered with a long scoring drive and got the ball back with 12:03 to play in the second quarter after the team's exchanged punts.

Murray put MU back in front when he returned an interception 38 yards for a score on the first play of the drive.

Leading 13-7, the Cougars forced a punt and took over at their own 20 with 9:48 remaining in the first half.

Jamal Dallas gained 14 yards and 22 yards on consecutive carries to move MU into King's territory.

Two catches by I. Williams set up a first-and-goal and B. Williams went nine yards for a TD to give the Cougars a 20-7 lead with 3:04 to go in the first half.

King's connected on a 33-yard field goal to end the half and the Cougars took a 20-10 lead into halftime.

The Cougars struck quickly on the first possession of the second half.

Sam Gillison's 21-yard reception gave MU a first down at the King's 40. B. Williams connected with Solomon for a TD on the next play as the Cougars stretched their lead to 27-10 less than two minutes into the third quarter.
King's put together a long drive on its next possession, but came up empty when Yeager and Becke combined for a stop on fourth-and-goal.

Vleck's 25-yard run moved the Cougars to midfield, but the drive stalled and MU was forced to punt.

King's marched 80 yards and got within 27-17 on the first play of the fourth quarter.

Misericordia answered with a long scoring drive of its own that featured 10 running plays and used 5:59.

B. Williams keyed the drive with a 28-yard run to the Monarchs' 23 and Cromwell eventually finished it with a one-yard run for a 34-17 lead with 8:40 to play.

King's took just 1:31 to go 79 yards to pull within 34-23 with 6:57 to play.

The Cougars recovered an onside kick for the second consecutive week and took over at the King's 41.

It took Cromwell just three carries, including a 17-yard TD scamper, to give the Cougars a 41-23 lead with 5:20 remaining.

Misericordia will travel to Albright next Saturday and will host Lycoming in the regular season finale, Nov. 10 at noon.
