The Misericordia University women's volleyball team swept a tri-match with Clarks Summit at Keystone.
The Cougars swept Clarks Summit in the opener (25-21, 25-13, 25-17) and rallied to win three straight to beat Keystone, 3-1.
In the opener,
Tara Welliver had 12 kills and
Mikayla Gunkle added seven kills.
Karley May had 36 assists and five aces and
Alexa Monro had four aces.
Kaitlin Wheeler and
Alexa Monro had 11 and 10 digs, respectively.
MU took the nightcap, 3-1, behind eight kills by
Sarah Pool and
Jassmine Watson.
Welliver had eight aces, seven kill, and three blocks.
In the opener against Clarks Summit, the Cougars raced out to a 20-10 lead before the Defenders rattled off eight straight points to get within 20-18.
The Cougars scored three straight points, including two aces by Monro.
Pool's kill made it 24-19 and a Defenders' error ended a 25-23 MU win.
In the second set, Welliver had three kills as the Cougars used a 12-2 run to take a 20-8 lead.
Down 14-13 in the third set, the Cougars used a 5-1 run to take an 18-15 lead.
After a Defenders' point, the Cougars put the match away a five straight points.
The Giants jumped out to a 14-4 lead in the opener and held off an MU rally to win, 25-19.
MU led 22-16 in the second set before Keystone scored five straight points to get within 22-21.
Welliver, Gunkle and
Jassmine Watson all had kills as the Cougars scored three of the final four points.
Jessica Oltman had two aces as part of a 7-0 spurt to give the Cougars an 11-3 lead in the third set.
Welliver had six aces, including four straight to end the set, as the Cougars closed a 25-9 win with 11 unanswered points.
Keystone opened the finale with a 10-3 lead, but the Cougars chipped away and three consecutive aces by May fueled an 8-0 run for a 17-14 lead.
The Giants rallied to take a 23-22 lead, but MU responded with three straight points and ended a 25-23 win on Welliver's ace.
The Cougars are 15-8.
