The Misericordia University football team converted 346 rushing yards into six touchdowns on the way to their fourth consecutive victory, 45-33, over Alvernia before a large Homecoming crowd, Saturday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.

Brady Williams ran for a team-high 148 yards while
David Cromwell had a 102 and
Clayton Vleck added 78 with the trio accounting for two TD's each.

Williams was 11-19 for 184 yards passing while
Sam Gillison had a team-high four catches for 91 yards.
Â
Nick Yeager led the MU defense with nine tackles while
Jared Skidds,
John Pearson,
Zack Smith, Mike Becke and
Kenny Grady all had six stops.
Â
The Cougars established their running on the opening drive as they went 61 yards on eight plays to take an early lead.

Starting at their own 38-yard line, Cromwell picked up five yards on first down and
Isaiah Williams' 8-yard catch gave the Cougars a first down in Alvernia territory.

Cromwell rumbled for 10 yards and another first down.
Â
Williams picked up 14 yards on a quarterback draw to the Golden Wolves 18.

Cromwell went the rest of the way over three carries to give MU a 6-0 lead less than five minutes into the game.

Alvernia answered on its first possession to take 7-6 lead less than a minute later.

Isaiah Williams took the ensuing kick-off 40 yards up the right seam into Alvernia territory.

A quick out to I. Williams on the right sideline converted a 3
rd-and-5 at the Alvernia 36.

B. Williams faked a draw and hit I. Williams downed the middle for 27 yards to the Alvernia nine.

Vleck gained eight yards off right tackle to the one and plunged up the middle for the score and a 13-7 lead with 7:09 to go in the opening quarter.

The Cougars forced a punt on the next series but Alvernia got the ball back deep in MU territory on a fumble.

The Golden Wolves took advantage and went 22 yards to pull even, 13-13.

The score stood until late in the second quarter when MU went back in front on a 29-yard field by
Matt Dinnocenti.

After the Cougars took over near midfield following a short punt,
Jamal Dallas entered the game and went off left tackle for back-to-back nine-yard gains to the Alvernia 37.

MU converted a 4
th-and-2 to keep the drive alive and Vleck picked up 19 yards on two carries to the eight.

The drive stalled there and the Cougars went up 16-13 with 4:10 left in the first half.

After Alvernia went back in front 20-16 with less than a minute to go, the Cougars drove deep into Golden Wolves territory, but missed a field goal as time expired.

The Golden Wolves scored on their first play from scrimmage to open the second half to take a 27-16 lead.

On MU's next possession, Williams used another fake and took the keeper for 18 yards across midfield.

After a 5-yard run by Cromwell, I. Williams made a nice sliding catch for 10 yards to the Alvernia 30.

Williams went off right tackle for 15 yards, but the drive ended inside the 10 on an interception at the two.

The Cougars forced a punt and took over at their own 15. Williams hit a streaking Gillison down the middle for a 75-yard gain to the Alvernia 10.

Dallas went off left tackle for nine yards and Vleck went over from the one on the next play.

B. Williams hit a wide-open Williams for the two-point conversion to get MU within 27-24 with 4:53 left in the third quarter.

Alvernia went 60 yards in six plays to go up 33-24 with 2:30 to play in the third quarter.

On MU's next possession,
Klayton Kelly got free for 32 yards down the right seam to the Alvernia 28. Williams faked a handoff and went around left for 27 yards and then dove in from the one with 1:26 remaining in the third quarter cut the margin to 33-31.

MU forced a punt on the next series and took over at the Alvernia 30-yard line after recovering a high snap from center.

Cromwell went up the middle for seven yards on second down and Williams went did the same on a keeper for 13 yards to set up first and goal.

Williams went in from the one on third down to put MU ahead for good, 39-33, with 9:36 to play.

The Cougars got the ball back after forcing a punt with 7:08 to play and went a time-consuming, game-clinching scoring drive.

Starting at their own 43, the Cougars ran nine straight running plays, with Vleck gaining 49 yards on six carries before Cromwell finished the drive with a one-yard run to give MU a 45-33 with 1:37 to go.

Misericordia is 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the MAC and will visit Lebanon Valley, Saturday.
