Rachel Carmody scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Misericordia University women's basketball team to a 67-49 win over Keystone in their home opener, Wednesday night at the Anderson Center.
Japriya Carroll scored 18 points and
Tessa Zamolyi added 13 as the Cougars improved to 2-0.
Paige Wampole had a team-high six rebounds and three blocked shots and
Erica Haefele had four assists.
Carroll scored the game's first five points, including three-pointer from the left wing, as the Cougars jumped out to an 8-0 lead.
Carmody sank a turn-around jumper in the lane and
Jordan Barth made two free throws before Carroll drilled another three from the left side as the Cougars took a 19-5 lead late in the first half.
Barth added a short jumper and a layup to stretch the lead to 23-7.
Leanne Forsyth found Carmody cutting the lane for a 25-9 lead early in the second quarter and Carmody added a three-pointer from the left side to stretch the lead to 30-13 with 4:21 left in the first half.
Carmody converted a three-point play with 2:23 to go and the Cougars led 37-15 at halftime.
Carroll's layup early in the third quarter gave the Cougars their biggest lead of the night, 43-17, and the Cougars never looked back.
