The Misericordia University men's basketball team dropped an 87-73 non-conference decision at Rosemont, Sunday afternoon.
Stone McCreary led the Cougars with 14 points and
Jason Kenny added 13 points and eight rebounds.
Misericordia never led, but got within 73-67 with 4:01 to play on a pair free throws by Kenny and a layup by McCreary.
After five straight points by Rosemont,
Alec Rodway hit a three-pointer to get the Cougars within 78-70 with 2:19 to go.
Rosemont scored eight straight points over the next minute to go up 85-70 with 1:04 to play.
The Ravens built a 15-5 lead in the opening minutes and maintained a double-digit lead throughout much of the first half.
The Cougars battled back and got a three-pointer from
Tony Harding and a Kenny jumper to cut the deficit to 41-36 with less than a minute to go.
Rosemont answered with a bucket and led 43-36 at halftime.
MU fell behind 55-42 in the first five minutes of the second half, but responded with an 8-0 run.
McCreary and Kenny made back-to-back three-pointers and
Justin Iton's short jumper made it 55-50 with 13:53 remaining.
Rosemont eventually stretched its lead back to 71-58 with 6:39 to set up Misericordia's last charge.
The Cougars return to action at Wesley, Wednesday.
