MU Women Pick Up First Win at Susquehanna

The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season with a 15-6 victory at Susquehanna, Saturday.

Kaila Quinlivan led the Cougars with four goals and an assist and Meaghan Whelan had three goals and two assists.

Kate Raab had three goals and Emily Connell and Lexee Willey scored two each.  Olivia Garcia had two assists.

Bri Ladner had a team-high 10 draw controls, six groundballs and three caused turnovers while Quinlivan added seven draw controls.

Connell had four draw controls and Whelan had four groundballs.

Jenn Gazdick had three saves in 51 minutes in goal and Lauren Weitzel had four caused turnovers and three groundballs.

Susquehanna opened the scoring, but Quinlivan scored two of the next three goals for the Cougars for a 3-1 lead with 21:33 to go in the first half.

After a Susquehanna short-handed goal, Raab answered with a man-up goal to ignite a 4-0 run and 7-2 lead with 13:52 left in the half.

Willey and Amy Roth added goals later in the half and Misericordia led 9-4 at halftime.

Susquehanna scored two of the first three goals of the second half to get within 10-6, but Connell scored twice in 16 seconds to make it 12-6 and the Cougars went on to score three more goals in the final 15 minutes.

The Cougars will host Scranton, Tuesday at 4:00.
