Box Score The Misericordia University baseball team dropped a 4-2 decision to LaRoche, Thursday morning in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Kenny Jarema had two of MU's five hits while
Santo Guinta had a hit and an RBI and
Cole Bixler drove in a run.
Mike Turton allowed just four hits and two earned runs while striking out eight over 6.2 innings to suffer the loss.
Shane Hughes,
Conor Smith and
Sean Boylan combined for six of MU's nine bases on balls, but the Cougars left the bases loaded in the third, fifth and sixth innings.
LaRoche took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third and added another run in the fourth.
MU got one back in the bottom of the fifth on Guinta's solo homer.
LaRoche scored once in the top of the eighth and the Cougars answered with a run in the bottom of the frame. Jarema led off with a single and
Shane Hughes walked. Both runners advanced on a passed ball and Jarema scored on Bixler's sacrifice fly to left field.
LaRoche tacked on an insurance run in the top of the ninth.
The Cougars will play Penn State-Behrend, Friday at 10:00.
