Brooke Moyle went the distance in the circle and hit a grand slam to lead the Misericordia softball team to a 9-1 win over Rhodes, Friday morning in Kissimmee, Florida. The Cougars fell to Emerson, 4-3, earlier in the day.

In the circle, Moyle allowed just two hits in five innings while striking out four to get her second win of the season.

After loading the bases on a double and two walks, Kiersten Pflueger singled in one run before Moyle sent one over the fence to clear the bases.

The Cougars added two more runs in the second inning as Amanda Butera doubled to lead off the inning and scored on an RBI single by Abby Marzzacco. The junior then came around to score on a groundout by Maddie Holub.

Moyle continued to dominate in the circle, not allowing a run until the fifth inning.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Cougars got RBI singles from Jessie McDonough and Ciara DeLong to get the win via the mercy rule.

Earlier in the morning, Misericordia faced Emerson, falling to the Lions, 4-3.

Emerson took the lead in the first, but the Cougars tied it back up at one in the top of the second. DeLong came up with the bases loaded and hit one to the third baseman, who booted it, allowing Lori Brennan to score.

Down 4-1 in the sixth, MU was able to cut their deficit to 4-3. Brianna Holder walked and came around to score on an RBI double by Holub. After an Ashlee Brosky single to put runners on the corner, DeLong singled home Holub to get the Cougars to within one.

Casey Tsamis came in for the Lions in the seventh to get the save, retiring Misericordia in order to secure the win and maintain an undefeated record for Emerson.
