The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team scored three goals in the final three minutes to rally for a 15-13 win at Manhattanville, Saturday afternoon.
Brandon Winslow scored three goals, including the game-tying and game-winning tallies, and
Patrick Kellish added three goals and two assists to become MU's all-time leader in goals with 153.
Chris Fleming had three goals and an assist and
Nick Torzilli added two goals and an assist.
Paul Hanrahan had seven groundballs and two caused turnovers and
John Tierney had three groundballs and three caused turnovers.
Robert Wagner had five groundballs and
David Pettine added three caused turnovers.
Antonio Whyte made 12 saves in goal for MU.
Torzilli, Winslow and
Patrick Luzzi all scored in the final three minutes of the first quarter to give the Cougars a 5-2 lead after one period.
Manhattanville scored three goals, but
Sean McSwiggan and
Jake Kocovsky answered with goals and MU took a 7-6 lead into halftime.
The teams traded goals throughout the third quarter and were tied 10-10 heading into the final period.
The Valiants scored twice in less a minute late in the fourth quarter to take 13-12 lead and set the stage for Winslow's heroics.
He tied the score with 2:54 remaining and put MU back in front with 1:36 to go.
Kellish added an insurance goal with 16 seconds to play.
The Cougars are 11-1 and will visit King's, Wednesday night at 7:00.
