Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Cougars Cruise to Sixth Straight Victory

The Misericordia women's lacrosse team continued its roll through conference play, Tuesday afternoon, defeating King's, 17-4, at Mangelsdorf field.

The Cougars improve to 6-0 in the MAC Freedom and 10-6 overall as the Monarchs fall to 6-10 overall and 3-3 in the conference.

Kaila Quinlivan led the offense with four goals and two assists to extend her team lead in points to an even 70. Amy Roth had two goals and two assists and Olivia Garcia had a goal and five assists, which tied Roth for most assists in a single game this season.

On the defensive side, Brianna Ladner caused four turnovers and picked up five ground balls while also collecting eight draw controls to set a new single-season record of 107 and Tori Hodges made seven saves in goal.

The Cougars took control of the game early as they built a 7-0 lead in less than 15 minutes of game time. Roth opened the floodgates with a free-position goal 2:35 into the game. Garcia got her first assist of the night four minutes later on a goal by Emily Connell. Quinlivan scored her first of the night as she muscled her way through the defense and found the back of the net to force a King's timeout.

Out of the timeout Quinlivan found Garcia open in front of the net to put the Cougars up by four. Just over a minute later, Lexee Willey took a pass from Roth and fired a shot above the goalkeeper's right shoulder before Quinlivan added two more goals to put the Cougars up by a touchdown.

Emma Lehman got the Monarchs on the board with 14:03 left in the half, but Misericordia answered with goals by Roth, Ashley Hobbs, Willey and Kate Raab to take an 11-1 lead into halftime.

After the break, Quinlivan opened the scoring with a low shot that found its way past the goalkeeper's feet before Connell scored off an assist from Garcia to put the Cougars up 12.

King's got a goal back from Anastasia Araviakis, but the Cougars responded with four straight from Hobbs, Meaghan Whelan, Sarah Bender and Taylor Hannaberry to put the finishing touches on the game. Kendra McCoy and Amanda Carroll added late goals with under a minute left to make the score a little closer.

The Cougars will close out the regular season, Saturday at 11:00 in their biggest game of the year at FDU-Florham as the winner of the contest will clinch the number one seed in the MAC Freedom Tournament and have home-field advantage.
