MU Men's Lax Ties School Wins Record

The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team ended the regular season with a 17-5 win over FDU-Florham as they celebrated Senior Appreciation Day, Saturday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.

Chris Fleming had four goals and three assists and Patrick Kellish added five goals and an assist as the Cougars improved to 13-1 to tie the school record for wins in a season.

Brandon Winslow added two goals and three assists and Nick Torzilli and James Pedersen scored two goals each.

John Tierney had three ground balls and three caused turnovers and Robert Wagner had five ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Torzilli gave MU an early lead with a goal inside the left post just three minutes into the game.

The Cougars made it 2-0 when Wagner scooped a ball in front MU's goal and went the length of the field before finding Fleming who placed a shot in the upper right corner with 5:35 to go in the first quarter.

Fleming caused a turnover behind the FDU-Florham and found Jake Kocovsky in front for a 3-0 lead with 2:22 left in the opening period.

Tierney's fast break led to a Sean McSwiggan to Winslow goal to highlight the second quarter built a 6-1 halftime lead.

The Cougars put the game away with five goals early in the third quarter.

Winslow scored in the upper right corner from the top of the circle and Torzilli dodged two defenders before squeezing a shot inside the right post for an 8-1 lead.

Fleming scored off a face-off win and Kellish scored twice in 15 seconds to give the Cougars an 11-1 lead with 9:28 to go in the third quarter.

Dylan Walsh and Pedersen combined for three fourth-quarter goals to clinch the win.

Antonio Whyte, Bryan DeGennaro and Michael Golden combined for nine saves in goal.

Misericordia will host King's in a MAC Freedom semifinal, Wednesday at 7:00.
