The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team opened its MAC Freedom schedule with a 21-5 win over DeSales, Saturday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
Kaila Quinlivan had six goals and an assist and
Emily Connell and
Kate Raab both scored twice.
Olivia Garcia scored twice, including her 100
th career goal, and added three assists.
Amy Roth had two goals and
Shae O'Leary and
Meaghan Whelan both added a goal and an assist.
Tori Hodges and
Nicole Giammarino combined for five saves in goal.
Bri Ladner had seven draw controls and four ground balls and Quinlivan added five draws and four ground balls.
Connell had five ground balls and three draw controls.
The Cougars scored four goals in a six-minute span to take control of the game with 18:01 left in the first half.
Quinlivan gave the Cougars the lead with a low shot inside the right post and Raab drove down the left side and bounced a shot inside the left post for a 2-0 lead.
Connell's interception near midfield turned into a goal from Quinlivan and
Amy Roth placed a shot in the upper right corner to close the spurt.
After a DeSales goal, the Cougars scored seven straight to take an 11-1 lead with 10:59 to go in the first half.
MU put together an 8-0 in the second half.
The Cougars will host Eastern, Wednesday.
