The Misericordia University women's volleyball team won its fifth straight match with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-13) win at Delaware Valley in their MAC Freedom opener, Wednesday.
Sarah Pool,
Jassmine Watson and
Amanda Curcio led the Cougars with seven kills.
Pool added nine digs, two blocks and two aces.
Karley May had 30 assists and
Jessica Oltman had three blocks.
Mikayla Gunkle and
Kaitlin Wheeler had eight and seven digs, respectively.
The Cougars a 5-0 run early in the first set to take a 9-2 lead and Del Val never got closer than four points.
Watson and
Tara Welliver sandwiched kills around three Del Val errors during the spurt.
Pool had two kills to open the second set as the Cougars took a 4-0 lead. Up 14-10, MU scored eight consecutive points to take a 22-10 lead. Welliver had two kills and an ace to key the run.
Watson had two kills and Poll added two aces to MU a 6-1 lead early in the third set, but the Aggies rallied with five straight points to pull even, 6-6.
Tied 9-9, Oltman had two kills as the Cougars took a 17-6 lead.
Curcio had three straight kills to cap a 6-0 run for a 21-12 lead.
Rachael Solano and
Alexa Monro had kills as part of a 4-0 run to close out the match
Misericordia, 7-2, will play in the Blue Jay Classic at Elizabethtown, Friday.
