Box Score The Misericordia University men's volleyball team evened its record with a 3-1 win at Cairn, Wednesday.
Ryan Miller had a team-high 12 kills and three aces and
Matt Lavin and
Brian Ross both added 10 kills.
Lavin hit .667 (10-15) and added two blocks and two aces.
Caleb Bauder had five aces and Miller and Lavin combined for five aces.
Dylan Sellitti had 38 assists as the Cougars improved to 2-2.
The Cougars took the first two sets, 25-10, 25-20. The dropped the third set, 25-18, but closed out the match with a 25-21 win in the fourth.
Misericordia hit .579 (14-19) with just three errors in a dominant first set win in which they never surrendered consecutive points.
Trailing 15-10 in the second set, the Cougars got consecutive kills from Miller, Ross and Bauder and took advantage of two Cairn errors to get within a point, 16-15.
Miller had two kills and an ace as the Cougars scored four straight points to take their first lead, 19-17.
Ross had two kills and Sellitti and Lavin had a block for the game-winner as the Cougars ended the set on a 4-1 run.
Cairn scored three straight points to break 10-10 tie in the third set and scored of the last five points of the set to clinch a 25-20 win.
Bauder's ace helped MU break a 10-10 tie in the fourth set.
Lavin and Miller both had kills as part of three straight points to give MU a 15-11 lead.
Lavin added a kill and an ace as the Cougars stretched their lead to 24-20 and the Cougars closed it out on a Highlanders' service error.
MU will host the second annual Cougar Kickoff Classic, Friday.
