Ten different players found the back of the net for Cougars as the Misericordia University women's lacrosse team defeated Susquehanna, 19-7, Saturday night at Mangelsdorf Field.
Kaila Quinlivan led the way for the Cougars with six goals, including her 100
th career tally. She also collected two ground balls and won two draw controls. The junior attacker leads the Cougars with nine goals in her first two contests of 2019.
Justine Johnson recorded her first collegiate hat-trick and collected two assists for five points.
Amanda Rackliff and
Kristen Ritter each contributed two goals for the Cougars. Rackliff also added an assist to her stat line for three points.
Emily Connell,
Katie Reilly,
Amy Roth,
Lexee Willey,
Lauren Weitzel and
Kate Raab also found the back of the net for Misericordia. Weitzel, Roth and Reilly each added an assist to go along with their goal.
Maggie McGovern improved to 2-0 in her collegiate career. The first-year goalkeeper saw four shots and made one save in just under 40 minutes of action.
Erika DeSantis also saw some action in net with 20 minutes played.
Three minutes into the game, Steph Dowling got the scoring started for Susquehanna with a goal. Ritter then answered back a minute later with her third career tally to knot the game at one.
Katrina DeMaio answered four minutes later with a Susquehanna goal, but the Cougars would respond with seven unanswered goals in less than 10 minutes of action. Quinlivan scored four times during the stretch, including three consecutive goals. Her last two tallies were just 27-seconds apart from each other.
Susquehanna would eventually answer with a score to make the game 8-3 with 11:37 remaining in the first half. However, the Cougars would end the first stanza with six unanswered goals to go up 14-3.
The Cougars carried momentum into the second half with three unanswered goals in the first 10 minutes. Johnson netted the first two tallies of the period while Rackliff found the back of the net with 20:06 remaining to take a 17-3 lead.
The Cougars outshot the River Hawks 35-10 with a 29-8 advantage in shots on goal. Misericordia also collected 16 draw controls compared to Susquehanna's seven.
Brianna Ladner led the way for the Cougars with six total draw controls.
Misericordia improved to 2-0 on the season while Susquehanna fell to 0-1. The Cougars will play at Scranton, Tuesday.
