Montclair State scored 10 runs in the third inning to hand the Misericordia University baseball team its second straight loss, 16-8, Sunday evening at Volpe Field at the University of Scranton.

Kenny Jarema had three hits for the Cougars while
Parker Abate,
Dalton Emerich and
Brady Madden all had two hits.

Tyler Holzapfel and
Steve Weisensee both drove in a pair of runs.

Taylor Price struck out eight in five innings of relief on the mound.

Montclair took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but the Cougars went ahead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second.

Santo Guinta led off the second with a walk and moved to second when Weisensee reached on an error. After both runners moved up on a failed pickoff attempt,
Sean Lyons plated Guinta with a sacrifice fly to right field.

Emerich reached on a bunt single and Weisensee eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by
Sean Boylan.

The Red Hawks sent 15 batters to the plate to take an 11-2 lead in the third.

MU got three runs back in the bottom of the third, but never got any closer. Jarema led off the frame with a walk and took second on Abate's single to center. Two outs later, Weisensee doubled to center to drive in two runs.Â
Sean Lyons was hit by a pitch and Emerich singled to center to make it 11-5.

Shane Hughes singled in a run in the eighth and Holzapfel had a two-run double.
