The Misericordia University women's basketball team advanced to the ECAC semifinals for the second straight year with a 78-64 win over Widener, Friday night at Cabrini.
Rachel Carmody and
Japriya Carroll both scored 14 points and
Jordan Barth added 14 as the Cougars improved to 23-5.
Erica Haefele added nine points and
Paige Wampole added 14 rebounds and eight points.
The Cougars fell behind 10-2 early and trailed 23-17 after one period.
Down 27-17 early in the second quarter, five different MU players combined to scored 11 straight as the Cougars took their first lead, 28-27, midway through the second period.
MU maintained its lead throughout the third quarter, but Widener pulled within 56-53 with 7:32 to play in the fourth quarter.
Barth made back-to-back layups to give MU a 66-56 lead and the Cougars maintained a double digit lead over the final 2:38.
Misericordia will face NYU in the semifinals for the second straight season in the ECAC semifinals, Saturday at 6:00 at Cabrini.
