Patrick Luzzi scored five goals and four other players had two goals each as the Misericordia University men's lacrosse team recorded an 18-6 win at Mt. St. Mary, Saturday.
Luzzi added two assists and
Nick Torzilli and
Kyle Vandenberg both had two goals and three assists.
Carson Venis had two goals and two assists and
Allen Thomas added a two goals and an assist.
Garrett Rogers and
Garrett Heidecker both won 10 face-offs while
Johnny Romero and
Dom Campanale both had two caused turnovers.
Rogers had six ground balls and Heidecker, Torzilli and
Robert Wagner all added four.
Owen Rogers made five saves over the first over the first three quarters while Matt Beck had five stops in the final stanza.
Luzzi gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead at 12:21 of the first and
Brandon Winslow added a goal 30 seconds later.
Following a Knights goal, MU scored four straight to take a 5-1 lead late in the first period.
Luzzi scored twice as the Cougars held a 4-0 advantage in the second quarter to take a 10-2 halftime lead.
Misericordia used a pair of 3-0 spurts in the third quarter and added man-up goals by Thomas and Venis in the fourth period.
The Cougars are 3-1 and will host Scranton, Wednesday at 5:00.
