The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team fell to Stockton, 18-12, Saturday at Mangelsdorf Field.
Patrick Luzzi had four goals and two assists to lead MU and
Nick Torzilli had two goals and an assist.
Kyle Vandenberg scored twice and
Sean McSwiggan added two assists.
Torzilli and
Paul Hanrahan had six ground balls and Luzzi and
Spencer Sundeberg had five each.
Luzzi stuffed a shot under the bar from near the right post to give MU a 1-0 lead in the opening minute. Torzilli drove down the middle and placed a low shot inside the right post to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead, but Stockton answered with four straight goals over the next four minutes.
McSwiggan found Luzzi on the left wing from behind the net to get MU within 4-3. Stockton went up 5-3 with 1:41 to play in the first quarter and
Robert Wagner scored less than a minute later to pull the Cougars within 5-4.
Stockton scored six straight goals to open the second quarter before Torzilli came from behind the net and scored inside the right post to cut the deficit to 11-5.
Torzilli scored a man-up goal to open the third quarter and
Garrett Heidecker scooped up a loose ball near midfield and scored to make it 11-7.
The Ospreys used a 5-1 run late in the third period and early in the fourth to take an 18-10 lead.
MU will visit Susquehanna, Wednesday.
