The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team dropped a tough 12-11 decision at Stevenson, Saturday.
Kaila Quinlivan led the Cougars with five goals while
Shae O'Leary added two goals and an assist.
Amy Roth had a goal and two assists and
Justine Johnson had a goal and an assist.
Quinlivan and
Lexee Willey both had three draw controls.
Nicole Winter had five ground balls and
Kristen Ritter had two caused turnovers and two ground balls.
Maggie McGovern made 13 saves in goal.
Stevenson scored twice in 18 seconds to take a 2-0 lead four minutes into the game before Quinlivan scored MU's first goal.
The Mustangs scored two more goals and Quinlivan again answered to make it 4-2 with 18:16 left in the first half.
After a Stevenson goal, O'Leary scored unassisted and then found Quinlivan to get the Cougars within 5-4 with 10:55 to go.
Stevenson went up 5-4, but
Amy Roth answered for MU just over a minute later and the Cougars trailed 6-5 at halftime.
Johnson pulled the Cougars even less than a minute into the second half.
Stevenson scored two straight goals to take the lead for good.
The Mustangs eventually took a 12-9 lead with 12:13 to play.
Quinlivan and O'Leary scored in a two-minute span to get within 12-11 with 2:32 to go.
The Cougars will host Lycoming, Wednesday.
