The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team dropped a tough 15-14 overtime decision at Montclair, Monday.
The Cougars led 12-8 early in the second half before the Red Hawks rattled off six straight goals to take a 14-12 lead.
Justine Johnson and
Kaila Quinlivan scored in the final three minutes to force overtime, but the hosts pulled out the win.
Johnson led the Cougars with five goals and an assist and three caused turnovers and Quinlivan added four goals.
Amy Roth had a goal and two assists and
Emily Connell,
Katie Reilly,
Kristen Ritter and
Lauren Weitzel all added goals.
Brianna Ladner had seven draw controls and Ritter added four draws and two groundballs.
Maggie McGovern had 10 saves and five groundballs and
Meaghan Kelly added four groundballs.
Quinlivan and Weitzel combined for three goals in a three-minute span to give the Cougars their first lead, 4-3, with 17:26 left in the first half.
Montclair answered with three straight goals, but Johnson and Quinlivan scored to pull MU even, 6-6, with 6:17 to go.
Montclair got a goal in the final minute to take a 7-6 halftime lead.
Roth and Johnson scored early in the second half to put MU back in front, 8-7.
Tied 8-8, Johnson scored twice as the Cougars scored four straight goals in a three-minute span to take a 12-8 lead.
Misericordia will host McDaniel, Tuesday at 4:30.
