The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team suffered its first loss of the season, 16-10, to St. John Fisher, Thursday afternoon in Clearwater, FL.
Misericordia led 4-2 late in the first quarter, but Fisher used an 11-2 run in the second and third quarters to go in front.
Brandon Winslow had two goals and two assists to lead the Cougars and
Nick Torzilli and
Robert Wagner both scored twice.
Patrick Luzzi added a goal and an assist.
Michael Truede had three caused turnovers and
Don Conway had two caused turnovers and two groundballs.
Wagner added a team-high four groundballs.
Wagner gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead less than five minutes into the game.
Fisher answered with two goals in less than a minute, but MU responded with goals by Torzilli, Conner Entwhistle and Wagner to take a 4-2 lead with 3:10 left in the first quarter.
Fisher got a goal late in the first to start a 5-0 spurt to take a 7-4 lead.
Winslow answered for the Cougars, but Fisher scored again late in the second period to lead 8-5 at halftime.
The Cardinals opened the third period with six straight goals to take a 14-5 lead.
Luzzi scored a man-up goal and assisted on a
Sean McSwiggan goal to get MU within 15-7 after three periods.
MU added three goals in the fourth quarter.
Owen Rogers made eight saves over the first three quarters in goal. Matt Beck made five stops over the final 15 minutes.
