The Misericordia University baseball team closed out its Spring Break trip with an 8-2 win over Moravian, Friday in Port Charlotte, FL.
Parker Abate had two hits and drove in two runs and
Kenny Jarema had two hits and scored two runs.
Steve Weisensee added two RBI.
Ian McCole scattered nine hits over seven innings to earn the win while
Drake Koch and
Kyle Melahn both tossed a hitless inning of relief.
Moravian scored a run in each of the first two innings to take a 2-0 lead.
The Cougars got one back in the bottom of the second and tied it in the fifth.
In the second inning,
Dalton Emerich drew a two-out walk, moved up on a passed ball and scored on a single by
Austin Miles.
The Cougars took advantage of another two-out walk in the fifth when Jarema reached and scored on Abate's triple.
MU scored four runs in the seventh and added two insurance runs in the eighth.
Billy Kerwien led off the seventh with a walk, moved up on a sacrifice bunt and took on a wild pitch before coming home with the go-ahead run when
Conor Smith reached on an error.
Jarema and Abate followed with back-to-back doubles and Weisensee singled home a run to make it 6-2.
Sean Boylan and Smith reached via hit by pitch to start the eighth inning and
Kyle Lennon drove home a run with a pinch-hit double.
Weisensee followed with a sacrifice fly to give the Cougars an 8-2 lead.
