MU Softball Splits Florida Finale

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Misericordia University softball team split a pair of games the final day of its southern trip, Friday in Kissimmee, FL.

The Cougars defeated St. Joe's-Brooklyn, 16-4, in five innings and fell to Trine, 9-1, in six innings.

Amanda Butera had three hits, three RBI and scored three runs in the opener.

Ciara DeLong, Kiersten Pflueger, Megan Murphy and Brooke Moyle all had two hits and two RBI.

Brianna Holder and Caitlin Kennedy both had two hits and scored two runs.

Taylor Baloga scattered five hits over five innings to get the win.

DeLong hit a solo homer to account for MU's lone run against Trine.

In the opener, the Cougars scored five runs in the bottom of the first to take a 5-1 lead.

Butera got things started with an infield single and went to third on Maddie Holub's double to right field.  Both runners advanced on a wild pitch and Pflueger made it 2-0 with an infield single.

Holder singled in a run and later scored on an error before Moyle made it 5-1 with an RBI-single.
 
They scored six more in the third and put the game away with five in the fourth.

DeLong and Butera both added two-run singles as part of the six-run third inning.

Moyle, Butera, Holub, Pflueger and Murphy all drove in runs in the fourth inning.
