Parker Abate had four hits and drove in three runs to lead the Misericordia University baseball team to a 10-8 win at Keystone, Wednesday.
Kenny Jarema had two hits and scored three runs and
Steve Weisensee,
Santo Guinta and
Sean Boylan all added two hits while
Brady Madden drove in three runs.
Taylor Price picked up the win in relief while
Kyle Melahn worked two scoreless innings to notch his sixth save of the season.
The Cougars took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first and built a 7-0 lead before Keystone rallied to take an 8-7 lead.
Jarema opened the game with a single to center, advanced on a passed ball and scored on Abate's opposite-field double down the right field line.
Abate moved up on Weisensee's infield single and scored on Madden's ground out.
Tyler Holzapfel drew a two-out walk in the third and Guinta followed with a two-run homer to left to give the Cougars a 4-0 lead.
Abate doubled with one out in the fourth and scored on Weisensee's single to left. Weisensee took second on the throw to plate and came home on Madden's single to center to make it 6-0.
MU added another two-out run in the sixth when Jarema drew a two-out walk, stole second and scored on Abate's single to center.
Keystone got two back in the bottom of the fifth and went in front with a six-run sixth.
The Cougars answered with two runs in the their next at bat.
Boylan was hit by a pitch to lead off the seventh and move up on a wild pitch. Jarema coaxed a walk and Abate drove in the tying run with a single to left. Jarema scored when Madden reached via error to give the Cougars a 9-8 lead.
Guinta singled up the middle to lead off the eighth and was replaced when
Shane Hughes reached on a fielder's choice. With two out, Boylan doubled to left center to plate an insurance run.
