The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team ended the regular season with a 20-3 win over Delaware Valley on Senior Appreciation Day, Saturday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
Kaila Quinlivan led the Cougars with two goals and three assists and
Katie Reilly added three goals and an assist.
Justine Johnson,
Emily Connell and
Shae O'Leary all had two goals and an assist and
Lauren Weitzel and senior
Kate Raab both scored twice.
Senior
Kristen Ritter had six draw controls and a goal and classmate
Brianna Ladner had five draws and a goal.
After the Aggies scored in the opening minute, the Cougars answered with 14 straight goals in the final 26:04 of the first half.
Amy Roth passed up a free position shot and found Johnson in front for the tying goal and Johnson did the same to feed Quinlivan on the left post to give the Cougars the lead.
Connell scored on a free position shot and then scooped up a ground ball at midfield and hit Raab with a long pass where she placed a low shot inside the right post for a 4-1 lead.
Quinlivan used a spin move on the left wing to make it 5-1 and assisted on the next three goals for an 8-1 lead with 10:34 to go in the first half.
Delaware Valley scored to open the second half, but the Cougars closed the game on a 6-1 run over the final 18:14, including Ladner's first goal of the season.
The Cougars ended the regular season on a nine-game winning streak to improve to 12-5 overall and 7-0 in the MAC Freedom.
Misericordia will host a MAC Freedom semifinal, Wednesday at 7:00.
