The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team used a big second to defeat DeSales in their MAC Freedom opener, 22-10, Wednesday afternoon.
The Cougars trailed 8-7 at halftime, but out scored the Bulldogs 15-2 over the final 30 minutes.
Kaila Quinlivan led the Cougars with nine points on four goals and five assists and
Justine Johnson added five goals and an assist.
Amy Roth and
Kristen Ritter added three goals and one assist apiece.
Quinlivan had a team-high six draw controls while Ritter and
Amanda Rackliff added four each.Â
Lauren Weitzel had two draws and four caused turnovers.
The teams traded goals throughout the first half with DeSales eventually takin an 8-7 halftime lead.
Roth pulled the Cougars even early in the second half and they went on to score four straight to take an 11-8 lead.
After a DeSales goal, Ritter started a string of six straight goals to give MU a 17-9 lead.
Maggie McGovern made seven saves in goal.
