The Misericordia University baseball team will open the 2019 MAC Freedom Baseball Championships against King's, Friday, May 3 at 3:00 p.m. at Owls Field in West Lawn, Pa.
The top-seeded Cougars, 29-10, have won eight consecutive MAC Freedom titles and are coming off their first NCAA D-III World Series appearance.
King's is seeded fourth after finishing 17-17 overall and 12-9 in the MAC Freedom. Misericordia took two of three from King's during the regular season.
Daily passes are $6 for adults and $3 for students.
TOURNAMENT CENTRAL
Manhattanville, the second seed, and DeSales will meet at 7:30 Friday. The winner of the double-elimination event earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Misericordia is led by senior shortstop
Kenny Jarema, the MAC Freedom Player of the Year, and
Ian McCole, the MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Year.
The Cougars were third in the league in batting with a .331 team average. Misericordia was second in the league in runs scored and led the league in fielding percentage.
The MU pitching staff had a league-best 4.06 earned run average.
Friday's winners will meet Saturday at 11:00 a.m. while the losers will follow at 3:00 p.m.
