The Misericordia University men's soccer team surrendered a late 3-0 lead en route to a 3-3 draw with Lebanon Valley, Wednesday at Mangelsdorf Field.
Nick Szczerba had two goals and
Max Gariano scored his first collegiate goal as the Cougars built a 3-0 lead in the first half.
Levi Roberts and
Bryson Smith both had assists for the Cougars, 1-0-2.
MU played the ball back to Roberts in their defensive third and he played a long ball over the top where Szczerba touched the ball around three defenders and popped a shot over the Dutchmen keeper inside the right post for a 1-0 in the ninth minute.
Patrick Hoffman came off his line to hold Lebanon Valley without a shot on two consecutive corners in the 19
th minute.
Gariano capitalized when a Leb Val pass deflected of a fellow defender as he beat the keeper 1 v 1 and slotted a shot inside the left post for a 2-0 lead at 20:15.
The Cougars made it 3-0 off a re-start in the 33
rd minute. Smith collected the loose ball off a rebound and touched to Szczerba who finished inside left post at 32:04.
MU nearly made it 4-0 in the 63
rd minute, but the Leb Val keeper came off his line to make a sliding save on
Braiden Christie's attempt.
The Dutchmen rallied for three goals over the final 13 minutes to force overtime.
Misericordia will host Arcadia, Saturday at 1:00.
