Matt Greene scored a career-high 25 points to lead the Misericordia University men's basketball team to a 72-54 win over the University of New England in the consolation game of the Basinger Memorial Tournament, December 31, 2013 at Lycoming.

Greene was named to the All-Tournament team after shooting 8-15 from the floor, including seven three-pointers.

Cael Evans was a perfect 6-6 from the floor and finished with 15 points and a game-high eight rebounds while Erik Kerns added 10 points and seven rebounds.

After UNE trimmed Misericordia's 30-25 halftime lead to one point in the opening minute of the second half, the Cougars scored six straight points to stretch the lead back to seven.

Greene drained a three-pointer and Evans added a free throw and a layup for a 37-30 lead.

The Nor'Easters pulled within three, but Greene buried two more three-pointers to keep MU in front by nine, 48-39, with 9:07 to play.

Andrew Moran drilled a three-pointer to give Misericordia a 54-41 lead with 7:26 to go.

Evans and Joe Busacca both made layups to make it 68-52 and Steve Ware's's dunk put the Cougars up by 18 with less than three minutes remaining.

Misericordia fell behind 13-8 to open the game, but rallied to take a 15-13 lead.  Anthony Sergio's jumper and a three-pointer by Greene pulled MU even and a layup by Kerns gave the Cougars their first lead.

The teams traded baskets until Kerns knocked down five free throws to give MU a 27-22 lead with 2:25 to play in the first half.

Greene drained another three-pointer to stretch the lead to 30-22.

Coming off its worst shooting performance of the season, the Cougars responded by shooting 39.3% from the floor, including 40.9% (9-22) from three-point range.
