Box Score 2 The Misericordia University softball team split a doubleheader on its opening day of the Rebel Games, Monday in Clermont, FL.
The Cougars dropped the opener to John Carroll, 6-5, but rebounded to defeat Aurora, 8-0.
In the opener against John Carroll, the Cougars rallied from an early deficit, but the Blue Streak scored the winning run in the top of the seventh inning.
Miranda Bohn had three hits and three RBI and Breanna Holder added three hits.
Maddie Holub had two hits.
John Carroll took a 3-0 lead in the first inning and the Cougars got on the board with a run in the bottom of the fourth. Bohn led off with a single through the right side and
pinch-runner
Zariah Alvin came all the way around to score on Holder's double down the left field line.
The Blue Streak added two runs in the top of the fifth, but the Cougars answered with a pair in their half of the inning.
Pinch-hitter
Megan Fenstermaker reached on an error to open the inning.Â
Amanda Butera re-entered the game and scored on Holub's single to left field.
Bohn singled through the right side to drive in Holub to get within 5-3.
MU tied the score, 5-5, with two runs in the sixth.
Alexa McHugh singled through the left side and moved up on
Ciara DeLong's walk.
Two outs later,
Antonia Pacillo drew a pinch-hit walk to load the bases and Bohn followed with a single through the side to pull the Cougars even, 5-5.
Against Aurora,
Amanda Butera and
Kiersten Pflueger both had three hits while winning pitcher
Miranda Bohn had two hits, including a homer.
Megan Murphy had a double, three walks and scored four runs.
She struck out six while allowing just two hits to earn the win.
The Cougars will face Ohio Northern and John Jay, Tuesday.
