Max Gariano scored less than a minute into overtime to lift the Misericordia University men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Stevens, Saturday at Mangelsdorf Field.

Alexei King had the assist and
Andrew Daubenspeck made seven saves in goal as the Cougars improved to 9-2 overall and moved into a four-way tie for first place in the MAC Freedom at 3-1.

King gathered a loose ball on the right side of the box and served it back in where Gariano headed it home from five yards out.

Eric Goldberg nearly put the Cougars on the board early in the second half when he beat the Stevens keeper, but his shot from 10 yards out was cleared off the line by a Ducks defender at 57:55.

Gariano's header caromed off the crossbar just over a minute later.

MU threatened in the game's opening minutes, but Gariano's header was denied by a diving save in the third minute.

Daubenpseck made his biggest save of the night in the 82
nd minute to preserve his sixth shutout of the season.
