The Misericordia University women's volleyball team improved to 12-10 with a of a tri-match with Marywood and Keuka, Saturday on Doc Mould Court.
The Cougars took down the Pacers in three sets, 25-21, 25-19, 25-14 and needed all five sets to edge Keuka (25-23, 21-25, 22-25, 25-19, 15-8).Â
In the first match,
Alexa Monro recorded 13 digs and five service aces in her first start at libero this season and
Jessica Oltman had five kills, three aces and a block.
Faith Merritt finished with 12 kills, nine digs and an ace and
Fiona Pyfer had nine kills, seven digs and an ace.Â
The Cougars and Pacers battled to start the first set, changing leads four times. The Cougars held a 10-8 lead when Monro stepped to the service line and delivered back-to-back aces. Merritt delivered with back-to-back kills later in the set to put MU up 21-14.Â
Shelby Hastings and Oltman started the second set with kills for the Cougars first two points. Oltman recorded back-to-back aces to put MU up 7-4. Hastings had the kill to end a long rally and put MU up 12-6. Misericordia ended the set on a 3-0 run.Â
A slow start to set number three put MU down two early. The Cougars went on a 6-0 run behind Monro's serving and two Merritt kills. Misericordia got firing on all cylinders and went on a 9-1 run near the end of the set behind three Pyfer kills.
Delaney Boyd came into serve the match point and delivered an ace. Â

In the second match Pyfer had a game-high 16 kills and recorded 12 digs.
Annika Massa had 17 digs and 40 assists. Â Hastings finished with six kills and four blocks.Â

Misericordia started out hot in the first with eight consecutive points on the board when
Alexis Hendrickson stepped to the line. Hastings put the set away with a kill for the 25
th point. Â

The Cougars trailed by five midway through the second set. A late 3-point rally put Misericordia within two, but they couldn't complete the comeback.Â
Monro started the fourth set with three consecutive service aces. Merritt and Eldrenkamp recorded two consecutive blocks to add their lead. The Cougars kept the lead for the entire set to force the fifth set.Â
In the fifth set, Misericordia lost the first point. A nice defensive sequence tied it at one.
Fiona Pyfer killed the next point to give MU the lead and they never looked back. Pyfer had four kills in the final set including the match sealing kill. Merritt added two kills and an ace in the set. Â
 Misericordia will travel to Montclair State, Tuesday at 7:00.Â
